Salman cycled from his home to shoot for Preity's show

Salman Khan cycled from his home at Bandra to RK Studios at Chembur on Saturday for the shoot of Preity Zinta's Guinness World Records -- Ab India Todega.

As reported 'In a tearing hurry'; Hitlist, March 15) Sallu features in the show and will part of the finale episode which will air after a couple of weeks.

Sallu made it a point to be part of the reality show due to his buddy PZ. The star considers cycling a sure-shot way to fitness and often cycles to his shoots.

Ranveer Singh giving SRK, Salman run for their money

Band Baaja Baraat actor Ranveer Singh is leading over Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan in India's first annual Facebook Movie Awards. 

FBMA has users of Facebook vote for their favourite movie star for 2010. Started by social media marketing professionals, it is an initiative to give film folk a transparent award based on viewer choice who are on social networking space. The FBMA entries close by June-end.

Ranveer Singh has landed an endorsement deal. He has been signed as the new face of a cola which is being re-launched.

Ranbir and Katrina on a date!

Kat has been cribbing how the press goes on and on about her relationship with Ranbir without any photographic evidence. So we did the needful 

On Monday, we read in a section of the media that she is genuinely tired of news reports of her proximity to Ranbir Kapoor and she says the reports are even more disturbing because no one really has any photographic evidence of them together. 

As soon as we read this, we sent our sleuths scouting for the evidence, which Katrina so categorically wished to be presented. 

Well, here it is, Katrina! A few days ago you were with Ranbir at a 5-star hotel in Santacruz East. 

You were seated to his right. 

Both of you looked rather happy in each other's company (For reference to context, see Picture 1). 

A few days prior to this, you were again with him having coffee and cold drinks.

Salman in a tuk-tuk

Salman Khan will be seen in the distinctive Thai rickshaws performing action scenes for upcoming film, Ready
Salman Khan recently shot some high-voltage action sequences while driving a tuk-tuk (see box) in the narrow streets of Pattaya, Thailand last week.



Perhaps inspired by Hollywood actor Pierce Brosnan's fast-paced ad in the ubiquitous Thai rickshaw, Khan suggested to the director Anees Bazmee that they shoot some action scenes in one, as it hasn't been done in a Hindi film as yet.

Spiralling costs

Subsequently, an action scene was written and shot, showing two tuk-tuks blowing up and the actor jumping into another one and driving off. Says an insider, "Since no owner wanted to have his vehicle blown up, producer Bhushan Kumar had to buy three at a cost of approximately R 2 lakh each, for the shoot. Salman drove the tuk-tuk expertly, although it was his first time doing so."



Understandably, Bhushan and co-producer Rajat Rawail want only the best for this R 57 crore extravaganza. No expenses are being spared. After Wanted and Dabangg, Khan's fans want to see him in bigger and better action scenes and the producers aim to deliver.

That said, this is T-Series' most expensive film to date. The shoot in Bangkok and Pataya itself is costing Bhushan over R 11 crore at a cost of R 25 lakh per day. Special Thai action fighters have been hired to shoot the action scenes in the tuk-tuks in Bangkok and in the entire film."

Bhushan admits, "It was bhai's (Salman) idea to shoot in a tuk tuk. Unlike the two and three-wheeler vehicles in India, the tuk tuks are very fast and powerful. Their drivers too are experts and can ride them as two-wheelers also. 

Bhai wanted to shoot an action sequence nobody has done before. People have shot romantic songs or scenes perhaps, but such a high-voltage action sequence will be seen for the first time in ready. People will enjoy this unique Thai action."

About a tuk-tuk
Similar to a taxi in utility is Thailand's ubiquitous tuk-tuk. So named because of the sound of their engine, these are motorised rickshaws and are popular amongst tourists for their novelty value. They are occasionally faster than taxis in heavy traffic as weaving in and out is easier, but generally are about the same or slower.

As tuk-tuks are open-ended, they expose passengers to the high pollution levels in the middle of Bangkok's roads and offer almost no protection in case of an accident. There is theoretically a ban on new tuk-tuks as they are so noisy and polluting, but it doesn't really seem to be enforced at present.

Kareena Kapoor to don traditional dress in the 'Bodyguard' remake!!!

After generous chic Western clothing for her role as a hairstylist in Karan Johar's Short Term Shaadi, Kareena Kapoor will go cultural for Atul Agnihotri's Bodyguard. 

She plays a don's beti in the latter and will mostly Indian traditional clothes as well as bright kurtas with a lots of oxidised jewellery. Bodyguard, directed by Siddique, is an version of a hit Malayalam film.

Bebo has been styled by Manish Malhotra for both films. Says a UNOFICAIL source, "MM has given her a very different look in Bodyguard, as she plays a college-going girl who is also a don's daughter. 

So she wears bright and colourful Pakistani long kurtas with block print salwars. Kareena is known to be a fashion icon having started the Geet kurtis in Jab We Met. 

This will start a new fashion for youngsters too of long Pakistani kurtas with high slits and big ghera salwars." 

The Kapoor gal will accessories with silver antique oxidised jewellery, beaded bags and accessories. "There are lots of metallic and thread work bangles to add an Indian touch. 

Manish sourced the accessories from Pune, Delhi and Mumbai. Most of the outfits, she will wear, have an embroidered patch with crochet and threadwork.
